It was in 1956, the Sreerangom C.V.N. Kalari Chikilsakendram was established by C V Narayanan Nair Gurukkal and his son, C V Govindankutty Nair Gurukkal, in Champakkara, a little village in Kottayam District, Kerala. From them, the centre passed on to K Gopinatha Gurukkal.

    Today, the Sreerangom C.V.N. Kalari Chikilsakendram, under the stewardship of Sreedhara Kurup Gurukkal, son of K Govinatha Kurup, has grown into one of the best Kalari centres and enjoys an international reputation.
